UNSW Netball

Player Information

UNSW Netball participates in the Winter Womens competition within the Randwick Netball Association (RNA). RNA is an affiliate of Netball NSW and run a graded, club competition at Heffron Park, Maroubra

Registration

Registration for the 2024 season is open now.

  • Registration is being conducted via PlayHQ .

Training

Training is held Wednesday evenings at the UNSW netball courts, Village Green, Kensington.

It is compulsory for all players to attend training each week with your team and coach. We understand that sometimes other commitments may come up, but we ask that you prioritise training with your team and that any training sessions that need to be missed are confirmed with your coach and the coaching coordinator.

Uniform

Our uniform colours are black and gold. Following Netball Australia's decision to update competition uniform guidelines, UNSW Netball Club has introduced our own inclusive uniform range including dress, tanks, shorts, leggings, hoodies and more. Please contact the equipment officer (netballunsw+equipment@gmail.com) to arrange the purchase of a new uniform. Uniform is compulsory in our competition.

Fees

Club membership costs vary depending on student status, however all fees include a registration cost from RNA and Netball NSW for the competition.

Grading

At the start of each season, all new players are required to attend a grading session before they can be placed into a team. Returning players are also welcome to attend if they are wishing to re-grade.

For new players, please note that grading is not ‘trials’, rather a session to ensure everyone is placed in the appropriate team as we have around 12+ senior teams.

Grading dates for 2024 are to be announced. They are usually in February.

Note:

  • UNSW Netball is a club registered within the RNA competition and we enter teams across most divisions each year.

  • Everyone will be allocated to a team, our grading sessions are purely to make sure you are playing with others of the same skill ability.

  • Full uniform is required for this competition and clubs must supply their own scorers, umpires and coaches.

Umpiring &
Coaching

Umpiring
Clubs must field their own umpires for each game (and coaches for teams who want to train), each team must provide an umpire for the season or share the load across the team so we have a pool of umpires who get rostered onto our club games. Teams in the opposing time slot will umpire the other teams on the other time slot. All our umpires are paid $25 per game they umpire, badged umpires may also be put forward to umpire the A grade games which are paid $30 per game. Umpire payments are paid by the team captains who collect the money from the players. Coaches receive similar remuneration, paid at the end of the season.

We are always looking for more umpires, so please let your friends know if they may be interested - it's a great way to earn a little extra cash on the weekends!
